Wilmington, MA – Astaro Corporation (http://www.astaro.com), a leading network security vendor, today announced that Saint Joseph Abbey and Seminary College replaced three separate network products with the Astaro Security Gateway to filter web content, monitor network issues and to replace their existing firewall. Implementing the Astaro Security Gateway has improved network performance, reduced the amount of time the IT department spends administering the network and decreased the organization’s networking costs.
Saint Joseph Abbey and Seminary College implemented the Astaro Security Gateway software appliance, repurposing a quad-core server the seminary already owned. Once installed, the Astaro Security Gateway provided the organization with increased insight into network activities, allowing the IT department to identify and address potential network issues before they became a problem.
Replacing the seminary’s old products with a single solution reduced the amount of time the IT director spent administering the organization’s network controls, allowing him to focus on other critical activities. Additionally, implementing the Astaro Security Gateway reduced administration time as once the initial implementation and configuration were complete the seminary was able to rely on the solution for packet filtering and web content filtering without constantly having to reconfigure or play with the product.
“When I began searching for a new solution I knew I wanted a single box that could replace my old firewall, router and content filter,” said Todd Russell, IT Director, Saint Joseph Abbey and Seminary College. “The Astaro Security Gateway provides all the functions I needed at a lower cost than other less powerful products I looked at. I’m so pleased with this product that I now use the home user version at home and recommend it to others.”
Russell is able to recommend the free Astaro Security Gateway home edition to others because, like the professional edition, it has a user friendly web interface, making it easy to configure and administer.
Russell continued: “My assistant, who has very little networking experience, has no trouble using the Astaro Security Gateway. I love our Astaro and would recommend it to anyone or any organization that needs Internet security.”
“Despite its friendly user interface, the Astaro Security Gateway is a powerful network tool,” said David Rogers, Vice President Americas, Astaro Corporation. “It can be configured with network, web and email security applications, making it the only solution an organization needs to confidently connect their network and to solve their security concerns.”
